History
1893
1893 is considered the year of foundation of the packaging division. Berlin based Henri Ehrmann & Cie., manufacturers of cartridge cases, are bought out by Karlsruhe industry pioneer Wilhelm Lorenz. The existing manufacturing program of Henry Ehrmann & Cie. is supplemented by machinery for the filling of tubes.
1928/1929
The Quandt entrepreneurial dynasty is acquiring the company which has in the meantime been renamed ´Berlin-Karlsruhe-Industrie-Werke AG´. The manufacturing site for the packaging machinery – MfM (machines for mass production) – is transferred from Berlin to Karlsruhe.
1949
1949 sees the foundation of Industriewerke Karlsruhe AG with their headquarters in Karlsruhe.
1979
IWK is re-structuring its production facility into individual business entities and the packaging machinery division is transferred from Karlsruhe to Stutensee.
1980
The Quandt family is selling its shares in the company.
2000
IWK Verpackungstechnik is focussing its business activities around the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. New cartoning and tube filling machines are developed with servo motor drives. A high-speed tube filling machine with outputs of up to 510 tubes / min. is designed and built, a quantum leap in the industry and the standard for years to come. These tube filling machines are mainly used by world-leading companies for the packaging of toothpaste.
2007
The entire packaging machine division of IWKA AG is bought by the Odewald & Cie group of companies.
2008
IWK Verpackungstechnik GmbH presents itself as a renowned systems supplier for mainly pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging machinery applications. IWK Verpackungstechnik GmbH has developed into the world leading company for tube filling machinery and into the market leader for cartoning machine applications using standard modular systems and solutions for the collation, the marshalling and the transfer of products to be packed. Introduction of the new SC 5 / SI 5 cartoner during Interpack 2008 in Düsseldorf is the logical and consistent supplement to IWK´s production program. Designed foremost with the applications and requirements of the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry in mind, the machine meets and exceeds the ergonomic needs of the industry and excels through a compact footprint, modular design, servo motor drive technology as well as largely tool-free size changeovers.
